24 After they arrived in Capernaum, the collectors of the temple tax came to Peter and said, “Your teacher pays the double drachma tax, doesn’t he?”
24 And when they came to Capernaum, those who received the didrachmasD6822 came to Peter and said, Does your teacher not pay the didrachmas?
didrachmas - A Jewish personal tribute to the temple. See Exod. 30.11-16, and cf. Neh. 10.32,33.
24 And when they were come to Capernaum, they that received tribute [money] came to Peter, and said, Doth not your master pay tribute?
tribute money: called in the original Didrachma, being in value fifteen pence.
