James 4

NET

4 Adulterers, do you not know that friendship with the world means hostility toward God? So whoever decides to be the world’s friend makes himself God’s enemy.

Darby

4 Adulteresses, know ye not that friendship with the world is enmity with GodD9200? Whoever therefore is minded to be [the] friend of the world is constituted enemy of God.

Darby Bible Notes

God - Lit. 'the friendship of the world is enmity of God;' but it is the state as between the parties, in English 'with.' In what follows, the same construction in Greek, it is taken up as 'our state towards' God, but this is warning to conscience.

KJV

4 Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.
