4 But he lifted up our illnesses, he carried our pain; even though we thought he was being punished, attacked by God, and afflicted for something he had done.
4 Surely *he* hath borne our griefsD5054 and carriedD5055 our sorrows; and we, we did regard him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.
griefs - Or 'suffering.' The word also means, 'sickness,' 'infirmity.' carried - Sustained. same as 'bear,' ver. 11, and 'carry,' ch. 46.4,7.
