9 Finally, the one presenting the offering must wash its entrails and its legs in water and the priest must offer all of it up in smoke on the altar—it is a burnt offering, a gift of a soothing aroma to the Lord.

burn - Properly 'burn as incense,' but applied also to the burnt-offering and to the fat; see Ex. 29.13, and vers. 13,15,17; ch. 2.2,9,11,16; 3.5,16, &c. odour - Or 'offering by fire of a sweet odour to Jehovah;' and so in each case where this formula is found. See ch. 4.31.
