oppression - Lit. 'a shutting up,' the word having also the moral force of detention, constraint. was - According to others, 'and who, of his generation, would have thought that he would be.'

He was taken from prison, and from judgment: Or, he was taken away my distress and judgment, but etc.. was he stricken: Heb. was the stroke upon him.
