12 For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any double-edged sword, piercing even to the point of dividing soul from spirit, and joints from marrow; it is able to judge the desires and thoughts of the heart.
12 For the word of God [is] living and operative, and sharper than any two-edged sword, and penetrating to [the] divisionD9024 of soul and spirit, both of joints and marrow, and a discerner of the thoughts and intents of [the] heart.
division - The passage has, I judge, the sense of dividing between each pair of objects and not of dividing each of the things by itself.
12 For the word of God [is] quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and [is] a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
