7 But the Lord said to Samuel, “Don’t be impressed by his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. God does not view things the way people do. People look on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”
7 But Jehovah said to Samuel, Look not on his countenanceD1854, or on the height of his stature; because I have rejected him; for it is not as man seeth; for man looketh upon the outward appearanceD1855, but Jehovah looketh upon the heart.
countenance - Or 'aspect.' appearance - Lit. 'the eyes.' see Ex. 10.5; Num. 11.7.
