9 However, Saul and the army spared Agag, along with the best of the flock, the cattle, the fatlings, and the lambs, as well as everything else that was of value. They were not willing to slaughter them. But they did slaughter everything that was despised and worthless.
9 And Saul and the people spared Agag, and the best of the sheep and oxen, and beasts of the second bearingD1840, and the lambsD1841, and all that was good, and would not devote them to destruction; but everything that was mean and weak, that they destroyed utterly.
bearing - Or 'fatted beasts.' lambs - Fat lambs fed on rich pasture.
9 But Saul and the people spared Agag, and the best of the sheep, and of the oxen, and of the fatlingsK1380, and the lambs, and all [that was] good, and would not utterly destroy them: but every thing [that was] vile and refuse, that they destroyed utterly.
fatlings: Or, of the second sort.
