NET Translation: But he only got as far as the Benjamin Gate. There an officer in charge of the guards named IRIJAH, who was the son of Shelemiah and the grandson of Hananiah, stopped him. He seized Jeremiah and said, “You are deserting to the Babylonians!”


DARBY Translation: And when he was in the gate of Benjamin, a captain of the guard was there whose name was IRIJAH, the son of Shelemiah, the son of Hananiah; and he laid hold on the prophet Jeremiah, saying, Thou art deserting to the Chaldeans.


KJV Translation: And when he was in the gate of Benjamin, a captain of the ward [was] there, whose name [was] IRIJAH, the son of Shelemiah, the son of Hananiah; and he took Jeremiah the prophet, saying, Thou fallest away to the Chaldeans.

NET Translation: Jeremiah answered, “That’s a lie! I am not deserting to the Babylonians.” But IRIJAH would not listen to him. IRIJAH put Jeremiah under arrest and took him to the officials.


DARBY Translation: And Jeremiah said, It is false: I am not deserting to the Chaldeans. But he hearkened not to him; and IRIJAH laid hold on Jeremiah, and brought him to the princes.
