who - Hostis. as ch. 19.12. render - There is no good English word for this. it means that a part of the fruit or wine is paid in kind according to agreement, instead of a fixed rent. So with all kinds of produce. But we can hardly say 'pay fruits,' nor 'give,' nor indeed, 'render,' but there is nothing better than this last.
