55 The priest must then examine it after the infection has been washed out, and if the infection has not changed its appearance even though the infection has not spread, it is unclean. You must burn it up in the fire. It is a fungus, whether on the back side or front side of the article.
55 And the priest shall look on the sore after the washing, and behold, if the sore have not changed its appearanceD813, and the sore have not spread, it is unclean: thou shalt burnD814 it with fire: it is a fretting sore on what is threadbare or where the nap is goneD815.
appearance - Or 'colour;' lit. 'eye.' burn - 'Consume wholly.' see ch. 4.12. gone - The words are the same as in vers. 42 and 43, applied to the head, and here alone used thus.
55 And the priest shall look on the plague, after that it is washed: and, behold, [if] the plague have not changed his colour, and the plague be not spread; it [is] unclean; thou shalt burn it in the fire; it [is] fret inward, [whether] it [be] bare within or withoutK539.
bare within or without: Heb. whether it be bald in the head thereof, or in the forehead thereof.
