3 gaunt with want and hunger, they would roam the parched land, by night a desolate waste.

3 Withered up through want and hunger, they flee into^D3064 waste places long since desolate and desert:

into - Or 'they gnaw.'

3 For want and famine [they were] solitary^K3287; fleeing into the wilderness in former time^K3288desolate and waste.

solitary: Or, dark as the night. in former time: Heb. yesternight.

3 For want^H2639 and famine^H3720 they were solitary^H1565; fleeing^H6207 into the wilderness^H6723 in former time^H570 desolate^H7722 and waste^H4875.
