21 Is the law therefore opposed to the promises of God? Absolutely not! For if a law had been given that was able to give life, then righteousness would certainly have come by the law.
21 [Is] then the law against the promises of God? Far be the thought. For if a law had been given ableD8556 to quicken, then indeed righteousness were on the principle of law;
able - Or 'such as was able to quicken,' an emphatic phrase.
21 [Is] the law then against the promises of God? God forbid: for if there had been a law given which could have given life, verily righteousness should have been by the law.
