16 So this is what the Sovereign Lord says: Take note, I am about to stretch out my hand against the Philistines. I will kill the Kerethites and destroy those who remain on the seacoast.
16 therefore thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Behold, I stretch out my hands upon the Philistines, and I will cut off the KerethitesD5757, and cause the remnant of the sea-coast to perish.
Kerethites - Or perhaps 'the Cretans.' see Zeph. 2.5. There is a paronomasia here.
16 Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will stretch out mine hand upon the Philistines, and I will cut off the Cherethims, and destroy the remnant of the sea coast.
Sea coast: Or, haven of the Sea.
