10 when someone told me that Saul was dead—even though he thought he was bringing good news—I seized him and killed him in Ziklag. That was the good news I gave to him!
10 when one told me, saying, Behold, Saul is dead! and he was in his own sight a messenger of good, I took hold of him, and slew him in Ziklag to whom forsooth I should give a reward for his good tidings:
10 When one told me, saying, Behold, Saul is dead, thinking to have brought good tidingsK1540, I took hold of him, and slew him in Ziklag, who [thought] that I would have given him a reward for his tidings:
thinking to have brought good tidings: Heb. he was in his own eyes as a bringer, etc.. who thought that I would have given him a reward for his tidings: Or, which was the reward I gave him for his tidings.
