18 The gold mice corresponded in number to all the Philistine cities of the five leaders, from the fortified cities to hamlet villages, to greater Abel. They positioned the ark of the Lord on a rock until this very day in the field of Joshua who was from Beth Shemesh.
18 and the golden mice, [according to] the number of all the cities of the Philistines belonging to the five lords, both fortified cities and villages of the peasantry; [and they brought them] as far as the great [stone of] AbelD1788, whereon they set down the ark of Jehovah, [which] is to this day in the field of Joshua the Beth-shemeshite.
Abel - Or 'peasantry. the great stone is witness.' 'stone' is in LXX, but in few MSS. 'Witness' is conjectural.
18 And the golden mice, [according to] the number of all the cities of the Philistines [belonging] to the five lords, [both] of fenced cities, and of country villages, even unto the great [stone of] Abel, whereon they set down the ark of the LORD: [which stone remaineth] unto this day in the field of Joshua, the Bethshemite.
great stone: Or, great stone [possibly a mistake in the KJV notes? I verified with 1611 scan].
