14 I have written to you, children, that you have known the Father. I have written to you, fathers, that you have known him who has been from the beginning. I have written to you, young people, that you are strong, and the word of God resides in you, and you have conquered the evil one.
14 I have written to you, fathers, because ye have knownD9363 him [that is] from the beginning. I have written to you, young men, because ye are strong, and the word of God abides in you, and ye have overcomeD9364 the wicked [one].
known - Ginosko. and so throughout chapter, except vers. 11,20,21,29 (first), oida. Perfect tense here. 'have come to know him, and continue so to do;' and so vers. 4,13,14. overcome - The perfect tense. the state produced continues.
14 I have written unto you, fathers, because ye have known him [that is] from the beginning. I have written unto you, young men, because ye are strong, and the word of God abideth in you, and ye have overcome the wicked one.
